He is the president and owner of L.A.A.P., Inc. “Total Safety Management”, based in Deer Park, Texas (just outside of Houston), an independent safety management consulting firm. His successful career with LAAP began in 1990, but prior to that he has achieved a varied background in safety, health, and environmental compliance.
Pat Patterson proudly enlisted in the United States Army, in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1972 at the rank of E-5. Pat also served one year in Viet Nam, from 1968 to 1969, in the Army Corp of Engineers.
Upon returning to civilian life, he decided to continue his education where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from the University of Houston, Clear Lake; Clear Lake, Texas, and is a Certified Safety Professional, certified by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He holds a certification as a Loss Control Representative with the Texas Department of Insurance and is a Field Safety Representative and Approved Professional Source with the Texas Workers Compensation Commission. He is a past executive committee member of the National Safety Council and has instructed numerous safety, health, and fire prevention programs for numerous companies, including a past instructor for San Jacinto College, located in Pasadena, Texas, and the Texas A&M Fire Training School.
Pat has served as manager of Safety, Health, Security, and Terminal Environment for a major bulk liquid chemical storage and distribution facility and Corporate Manager of Loss Control for a major high-rise, road, and bridge contractor. Prior to that, Pat began his career in safety with Diamond Shamrock Chemical Corporation as Safety and Fire Protection Supervisor.
He has spent numerous hours teaching safety, health, and fire protection training to multiple clients. After 9-11, he assisted Mr. Richard Wimberly, of Akal Security, in teaching Terrorist Threat training to numerous police, FBI, and security agencies New York City. Afterwards, Pat decided to develop his own program, conducting this training at the worker level, realizing that the workers themselves are the eyes and ears of any company and are in a distinct position to prevent or avert a terrorist situation.
Pat and his team members at LAAP provide safety, health, ergonomic, environmental, and security program development and training services to various clients across the United States to assist them in providing a safe environment for employees, contractors, patrons, and visitors entering their businesses. |
